Civil engineering for buildings is a specialized branch of civil engineering that centers on the planning, design, and construction management of various types of buildings and architectural structures. Our civil engineers oversee the entire lifecycle of a building project, from initial conceptualization and feasibility studies to site selection, permitting, budgeting, and scheduling. Their expertise encompasses coordinating with architects and other stakeholders to ensure that the building meets the functional and aesthetic needs of its occupants. Additionally,  our civil engineers for buildings focus on infrastructure systems within the structure, including water supply, sanitation, and electrical systems, to provide a safe and functional environment for our clients. This holistic perspective enables us to deliver well-rounded solutions for constructing sustainable, efficient, and resilient buildings that harmonize with the surrounding environment and adhere to local regulations and codes.

Plumbing engineering is a critical part of every building. It takes knowledgeable experts to plan a functional plumbing design that will work with all other systems to maximize water efficiency and minimize waste. Fortunately, our plumbing engineers are on top of the latest plumbing designs and equipment and can create the right plan for your construction project.

From small-scale remodels to new office buildings, our MEP consulting firm provides superior plumbing engineering solutions. We work closely with our clients to discuss unique building factors and other needs before beginning so that we have the big picture in mind when drafting the smallest details of your water, plumbing, and drainage systems. Staying in line with your budget and timeline is always a top priority as well.

Along with an overall plumbing design solution, we can help you with natural and LP gas piping plans. Our plumbing engineers can verify that your pipe connections are correct and assess whether any changes are needed for a high-efficiency system.

STORMWATER DESIGN (with LID)

(Low Impact Development Design)

Drainage Design and Analysis

The following are the type of development projects where the Standard Urban Stormwater Mitigation Plan is required.

  • Housing complexes that have 10 or more resident units

  • Single-family hillside residential buildings

  • Gas stations

  • Restaurants

  • Vehicle service locations

  • Both industrial and commercial buildings with one or more acres of waterproof surface area

  • Any construction with 2,500 or more square feet of the waterproof area is situated next to or directly draining to designated Environmentally Sensate Areas

  • Parking lots with 5,000 or more square feet of surface area or that have 25 or more parking spaces

Stormwater Design involves channeling the surface stormwater to different drainage systems. We deliver efficient stormwater management plans for residential projects. Low-impact development (LID) is an approach to land development (or re-development) that works with nature to manage stormwater as close to its source as possible. LID employs principles such as preserving and recreating natural landscape features, minimizing effective imperviousness to create functional and appealing site drainage that treats stormwater as a resource rather than a waste product. It minimizes the stormwater draining to the municipal waterways.

TITLE 24 AND ENERGY COMPLIANCE

Homes - energy modelling

Increased energy efficiency results in the following benefits:

  • Minimized unnecessary energy use

  • Electricity reliability and demand

  • Lower energy costs

  • Reliable delivery of services

  • Increased comfort

  • Improved interior environment

Almost every project starts with a study to determine the loads experienced by the space or building. From here we can determine the size and capacity of your heating and cooling system taking into consideration cost, installation, and energy efficiency.

The California Energy Code, or Title 24, Part 6 of the California Code of Regulations, also titled The Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings, was established in 1978 in response to a legislative mandate to reduce California’s energy consumption. The standards are updated periodically to allow consideration and possible incorporation of new energy efficiency technologies and methods.

"Pacific" MEP" offers Residential & Commercial Title 24 Energy Calculation Services to homeowners, architects, designers, and builders. After reviewing your facility’s design, we ensure that energy calculations are taken accurately and efficiently to ensure compliance with energy standards.

FIRE PROTECTION

fire sprinkler

Pacific MEP's fire protection services include:

  • Water Pressure Calculation

  • Fire Sprinkler Design

  • Fire Sprinkler System Upgrade and Tenant Improvement

  • Fire Pump Calculation and Fire Pump Selection

  • Smoke Control System Design

Automatic fire sprinkler systems are the most effective method for controlling the spread of fires in commercial buildings. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), fire sprinkler systems succeed 98% of the time in controlling fires. With their proven track records, local jurisdictions and insurance companies require their installation because they may save lives and limit damage to properties. NFPA 13 is the standard for the installation of sprinkler systems, and NFPA 25 is the standard for the inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems. Both standards have been adopted by the State of California. Title 24 addresses the requirement for the installation of fire sprinkler system.
